FISHERS, IN – The Indiana IoT Lab is hosting a virtual gathering on Tuesday, March 31st at 2pm to celebrate its second anniversary and release of the State of IoT 2020 report. The Fishers-based lab will publish the 102-page report analyzing Indiana’s tech ecosystem and highlighting people and organizations who are designing, connecting, and deploying Internet of Things technology throughout the state and beyond. The report features approximately 30 Hoosier companies coming together to speak to the business climate for connected technologies.

“The Internet of Things has become a disruptive force in our innovation economy,” said John Wechsler, CEO of the Indiana IoT Lab. “Innovation hubs forming around the state represent a focused, networkable opportunity for all Hoosiers to participate in the IoT. In developing these networks and cultivating relationships, we capitalize on advancements in Indiana’s core competencies, strengthen our communities, and future-proof our industries.”

The Indiana IoT Lab opened March 21, 2018 in Fishers as a public-private partnership among Launch Fishers, the city of Fishers, the Indiana Economic Development Corp., and several organization sponsorships, including Comcast Business and Indiana University. Having focused on launching and growing a sustainable initiative in 2018, the lab turned its focus to expanding the tech ecosystem, developing tangible IoT solutions, and increasingly engaging the community throughout 2019.

“Individual membership more than doubled, five new companies launched operations at the lab, and, in partnership with state government organizations, three international companies reached agreements to launch their North American activities at the IoT Lab in Fishers, Indiana,” said Jason Pennington, Executive Director of the Indiana IoT Lab. “In total, the programming, partnerships, and events helped the lab generate more than 4,000 visitors from across the globe during 2019.”

Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness touts the lab’s success in the caliber of companies who call the IoT Lab home. “With a mix of both domestic and international firms expanding or relocating to the IoT Lab, it’s home to a great group of companies dedicating resources to changing how individuals and businesses interact with technology,” said Fadness. “We’ve created a best-in-class model of bringing together entrepreneurs, global companies, and targeted programming to create the next generation of innovative companies and entrepreneurs.”
